That’s a good question—because there are now many, MANY options for artists who want to sell their art online (and some are definitely better than others).
We believe that the best solution for artists is an individual website, on their own unique domain. We also know that artists who have HTML websites rather than flash or javascript-heavy websites tend to get more traffic from search engines.
Foliotwist is our solution, but it’s not the only one. A few other companies that offer this type of website are FineArtStudioOnline and ArtSpan. If you’re looking for a good website service and haven’t checked them out yet, you should.
Both FineArtStudioOnline and ArtSpan are unique, with a slightly different focus than Foliotwist, so you may find that one of those services fits you better.
If you’re wondering why we’re talking about our “competitors” on our own website, it’s because of a very eye-opening conversation that we had at our last meeting. . . basically, we concluded that if our goal is to do whatever we can to help artists (and it IS) then we shouldn’t pretend that we’re the only solution out there. In fact, we have an obligation to point out other options than foliotwist.
So check out FASO and ArtSpan. And if you choose either of them, feel free to tell them we sent you. :)
Our mission: To make the best art websites for artists—websites that actually help you sell art online.
